Ya know, given they're our most regular everyday people, Zan & Kris don't get mentioned on here nearly enough. We see them so often doing the regular everyday family stuff, we don't often think to do anything else. But when this came along...

A little bit country... a little bit rock... a little bit 90s retro... seems like something for everyone. Let's go! ✊

$30 lawn seats and we're in for about anything

Sheryl Crow was the draw for Jenny & I. She's one of those artists that was kinda the soundtrack of her time. Over about a decade, from the mid 90s to mid 00s, the had a string of hits as strong as anyone. At the same time, she just kinda slipped by us. Maybe she didn't tour alot? I dunno.

I think we did see her once as part of the Crossroads Guitar Festival a long time ago (2004?), but she didn't do her own stuff. So this time, we jumped at the chance to see her solo.

No Leaving Las Vegas? No Difficult Kind? No There Goes The Neighborhood?

The namesake outlaw in this festival, Willie Nelson is (somehow) still out there gettin it done. At NINETY THREE, the life he loves must truly be makin music with his friends because there is no other reason for him to be doin it!

One the road again. Always.

So Jenny & I had seen him before, and we knew what to expect. We tried to set expectations for Zan & Kris: he's a legend, he's playing after Sheryl Crow, we're already gonna be there, he could die tomorrow, staying to see him is a no brainer, but... don't expect much. Happily, we totally undersold him!

He may be related to several of the people on stage.

Even at 93, Willie still gives ya just enough to feel like you've seen something special. True, he does mumble his way through some of the lyrics. And ya get the feeling the Family Band is just trying to hang on when he wanders from one song to another without warning. (they're skilled, and used to him I'm sure) But he's still funny and engaged in the proceedings. And he can still play.

Trigger, 50+ years, 10,000+ performances, just getting worn in.

Now this setlist is a little deceiving. I mean, yes, he did touch on every song listed here, but most only in passing. A verse here or a chorus there of meandering medley. The whole thing kinda feels like a circle of friends around a campfire. It'd be underwhelming for anyone else, but feels just right for Willie.

Really, it's more like 8-10 songs containing snippets of 21 songs.
