RETR@migo: April 4, 2020

I'm so glad we have this moment-in-time documented!! Wild that it was 6 years ago when the world shut down, and yet weird that it was only 6 years ago, as it feels like a faint, distant memory.

Nice to remember how adaptable we all were, to just roll with whatever changes were required.

It started March 18 when we returned home midweek from our Spring Break trip...we have not left the house since then! Ok, we have run to the grocery store a couple times and picked up take-out food a few times, but that's about it. Our only other escape has been on-foot to get fresh air walking/jogging around the neighborhood. The other 23 hours is spent within the 2400 square feet of our lovely house! And oh how thankful we are for such a comfy place.

Jeff did make one last run by his office when his laptop need to be hardwired into the network to overcome an issue, and it was quite a lonely place.
The whole office to himself!

He now spends his work-from-home time sitting in this relaxed spot!
Great day at the new "office"

I have been working from home this entire time too -- as I can easily do my job from anywhere. It is nice to have family company nearby! As for school, Danielle had no requirements the first full week we were home, and then had a light load the second week -- she just works from a daily list that I make for her (Math, Reading, Writing, Outside, Exercise, Something Fun).
Best view in the house!

Naomi's school has started picking up a little bit more. The first full week she had a light load as messages only just started coming in from teachers. This past week, she had legit assignments that she had to complete. Throughout middle school, she became a very diligent student and it is paying off now in these circumstances. She just gets her stuff done...early! NOTE: Next week is when she will likely start "meeting" for actual class time.
This is what school looks like...

As far as all the other things happening around our place...

Trying something new each day

Sunday morning church in our pjs!

Danielle on Zoom with friends and Girl Scouts

Plenty of time for puzzles!

And what does Trixie think of all this at-home time? SHE LOVES IT! She literally gets at least 4 walks a day now! It starts with a 1-3 mile jog first thing in the morning with me. Then she accompanies Naomi on a Pokemon Go quest over to the exercise park (a Poke Stop). Her lap around the short block with Danielle is on the shorter side, but Trixie appreciates it all the same! To wrap it up, Trixie gets a 3 mile trek with Jeff around the edge of our neighborhood!
Trixie living her best life!

It has been an interesting time! Who would have ever thought the entire state and country would be shut down!? (Well, there were some people saying this was inevitable...) To the majority of us, it has been a jarring experience as we alter our normal behaviors, some impacted more than others. Honestly, for us, it has only been a minor adjustment thankfully. Yes, we have had trips and plans cancelled, but we tend to stick to a simple weekly routine near home. I will say I have enjoyed all the extra time at home getting to do those little things that I never seemed to have quite enough time for. We will certainly make the most and best of our situation!
