Living the Dream: Promoted to SECRETARY

Not sure how many people actually aspire to be a secretary, but it was one of the professions I remember playing when I was a kid (along with librarian and astronaut). It combines a couple of my favorite items like pens and notebooks while completing job tasks, like writing, communicating, organizing and checking things off a list. And apparently it was in my blood -- both of my grandma's were executive secretaries for the head honchos at Schreiner College, Southern Music Company and Polluck Paper back in the 1950's and 60's. (By the way, I know they had way more responsibility than I envisioned as a 7-year old with a clipboard!)

So when the opportunity came up on the TCHS Volleyball Booster Club spot for secretary, you bet I raised my hand! There was no interview, nor was there even any competition. HA. The job was all mine, and one of my childhood dreams (and destiny) came true!

My superpower? Deciphering conversations that overlap in five directions and turning them into a coherent record by the end of the meeting. Publishing the minutes brings me joy and following up on action items makes the day complete. Need a volunteer form? I gotcha! Childhood me would be so proud!

A lovely blend of combining my quirky dream and supporting the volleyball team. (Ya know, they wouldn't let me actually be ON the team, so I found a loophole!) 😉
