4th Fun

Happy Birthday, America!

Thankful that our beloved democracy stands another year. It "feels" questionable at times, but this country and her people are bigger than any one individual or any one movement. America continues to persevere through all types of human leaders and influencers, and remains red, white and blue.

On October 11, 1798, John Adams wrote to the Massachusetts Militia: Because We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion -Avarice, Ambition, Revenge or Gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

Virtue and self-discipline of the people is necessary -- plus the greater good matters -- something bigger than self.

UPDATE: Just saw this story -- about 2024 being a near-record year for Americans giving to non-profits!

On with highlights of our Patriotic day...

My celebration started early with a home-grown 10K walk/jog with framily. (Because, remember, the city no longer provides the 10K option at Liberty by the Lake). Anyways...new tradition...

And this tradition includes a stop for coffee or fancy drink! (No that is not Trixie...)

On the way back into the neighborhood, everyone stopped by to try out my humble labyrinth! And then...Charlie and Trixie. Trixie, Charlie. Which is which? Who is who? The tail is the give away.

And yes, we made it to our precious city parade. Naomi again celebrated her freedoms at home in her bed!

45 Jeeps this year!

Our church representing!

The Drifin' Hella Shriners back in action

Chilllin' at the Jayroes

It rained most of the time we were in the pool!

Bombs bursting in air!

NOTE: Early on July 5 (1a-4a) there was catastrophic flooding in Central Texas, specifically along the Guadalupe River near Kerrville. Over 100 people died, including 27 kids and counselors at Camp Mystic.
