After working 580 games (and counting), I look forward to the ones that are different.
Last weekend, two more of my guys were inducted into the Dallas Stars Hall of Fame. And although I didn't get to do much with either of em this time around, it's always nice to have em back in the building to take a bow and remember the good times.

Funny story about Jim... but first, a precursor...
For a long time now, I've been a recognizable face around the arena. People know me, but not really, not by name. I'm that guy. And this is true with the players as well. When I see them, at the arena or elsewhere, I see the look of recognition in their eyes, even if they can't place me. The same is true for people in the front office.
So before the game, I approach Jim Lites, phone in hand, camera ready, and ask for a photo. He sees me coming and smiles...
Excuse me, Jim. Can I get a a photo?
Of course.
[pose, snap, done]
[hand extended] Thank you, sir. And congratulations on the Hall of Fame. It's great to see you around here again.
[shakes hand] You too, Jeff.
Wait, what???
"You too, Jeff."
Jim Lites knows my name? Really???
First thought: No way. He must've snuck a peek at my badge. Although, our interaction was very short, and I didn't see him break eye contact except when we were both looking at the camera. How could he have done that?
In disbelief, I mention this to Celena (my fellow 20 year-timer, we started the same game) and she says "Oh, he remembers everybody! He's really good at that." So... I guess he's just one of those people, with that super successful sales background, he's a people person. Not only does he not forget a face, he even remembers the names? Wow!
Congrats to the newest Dallas Stars Hall of Famers. (My) Game 581 did not disappoint!
