txt msgs

I've learned something interesting about myself since Naomi has been at college.

It began when I noticed that Naomi sends way more text messages to Jeff than to me. Sure it makes sense, when she is sending texts late at night - her and Jeff are both night owls. But even during the day and on weekends, Jeff gets more contact than I do. I finally had the courage to ask Naomi what was up (because you know, normally: don't ask a question you don't really want the answer to...)

Naomi told me: you use too much punctuation. and paragraphs. and full sentences. and correct spelling. and blank lines. and sometimes you leave no room for a response.

And when Naomi said it, Danielle immediately, enthusiastically chimed in in agreement!

And come to think of it, Jeff is regularly commenting on how long it takes me to craft and send a quick message. He's usually got 3 messages sent, while I'm still typing (and editing) my initial response.

So yeah, I guess I do write my text messages the way I learned to write in Technical Writing class in college. Include all important details. Make use of white space. Grammatically correct.

I went to college before the age of text messages...hard to teach an old dog new tricks, but I will try!
