Homecoming

Just over one month ago, Naomi kicked off her college journey when she packed up and moved into her Texas A&M dorm. She has adjusted quite well to her new surroundings, and is learning to manage the zillion assignments that come with A&M engineering classes. During "new student orientation", students were encouraged to stay on campus for at least a month or so before visiting home, to ensure a smooth transition. Naomi juuuuuust met that goal but had a some time-sensitive motivation to make her first homecoming in mid-September: attend Danielle's high school volleyball games AND go dress-shopping with Danielle for TCHS homecoming!

But also an important reason: Naomi wanted to see Trixie!

There was plenty of volleyball to watch -- Danielle had a Friday night game, plus a Saturday tournament that went much longer than expected. Naomi certainly got her fill of cheering on her sister, and then used some time catching up on homework.

At A&M, Naomi has been taking advantage of her full-scale eating plan, but something was lacking - she had not eaten any Mexican food! So her first meal back home was at at Angelina's. Bring on the familiar queso and tortillas.

Second favorite local dining option: Tony's Pizza & Pasta.

But back to the main inspiration for the visit - dress shopping! Naomi has valuable experience regarding high school dances, so she was excited to help Danielle find the perfect dress for HoCo. Naomi pretty much picked out all the options...

Danielle did the trying on...

Togetherness was the key!

Naomi picked the winner and then completed the look by sharing her matching prom purse and shoes! Success. Danielle is ready thanks to Naomi.

Since the dress shopping happened at the mall, where there is always a book store, Naomi of course insisted on a quick stop. Never miss a chance to be surrounded by books.

Regarding A&M engineering, all freshman are required to do coding, which is something totally new to Naomi. I love hearing all about her coding experiences but was thrilled to get to "pair program" with her during the visit!

Engineering students are also required to attend various career networking events to learn about different areas of engineering. Naomi's existing wardrobe of jeans, hoodies and t-shirts did not have anything that fit the "business casual" dress code, so another quick shopping trip produced more winning attire! Naomi is now prepared for networking at the upcoming Aerospace Engineering event.

One final stop at church on Sunday morning, allowed Naomi to catch up with several of her Crossfire buddies! (She also got to step up and support someone having a medical emergency, but that's a different story...)

It has been awesome to watch from afar as Naomi makes such great strides at college, but it was even more exciting and refreshing to see her in 3-D! The house was again full, for about 40-hours, of all the things we love about Naomi!
