Ok, not quite. I guess there is still college to go.
Naomi has entered the quasi kid-adult adult-dependent young adult stage. And quite gracefully I might add! After all she accomplished in high-school, she chose to spend her summer knocking out Pre-Calculus (with another A) to prepare for engineering. And that is where her maturity has most impressed me.
Accompanying her on all the college stuff for the last year and a half has been fantastic, and really fun! She's engaged and easy to work with. And other than having to remind her to check her emails, she's been pretty much on top of everything along the way. Which is good, because that's the way they do it at Texas A&M: university to student.
Is she done? Prolly not. The "young" part of young adult means there'll prolly still be a bump in the road, or two. And who knows what comes after college. Does anyone "launch" the way we used to? I dunno. Regardless, I feel pretty confident she'll figure it out and be a good citizen.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY and congratulations, Naomi! Enjoy your independence. Sign your own documents. Get ready to vote in November. All the things that come with being a legal adult.
RELATED NEWS: Danielle has let it be known that she is now the only "legal child" on the Smith side of the family, and as such, will be claiming the Head Of The Table seat at the kid's table for the next few holidays.
