As usual, nothing new here, and that's a good thing.
JOURNEY... Prolly no bigger hit machine in the 80s than this band. And yes, I/we've seen em before, but at this point, that's most of these bands! (a byproduct of em being around this long) A perennial repeat, and Jenny & I's favorite on this triple bill.

| Arnel Pineda, 16 years on, no longer the New Guy. And at this point, there's no way Journey would still be out there gettin it done without him. Respect. |

DEF LEPPARD... Again with this hits! Def Leppard's Pyromania takes me back to middle school in Edmond. They were big. But not as HUGE as when Hysteria came out. By then, I was in high school in Richardson and all these slick new songs were dominating MTV and the radio. These days, the band still sounds great, and Joe Elliot is hangin in there on vocals, even if he does sound a bit like Elmo while hitting those high notes. (ya do what ya gotta do)

STEVE MILLER BAND... The surprise (not surprise) of the night, Steve Miller Band played a great opening set. His 1974-78 Greatest Hits album is one of those "soundtrack of our lives" kinda things, and exactly what comes to mind when ya think classic rock. So yeah, he's more of a 70s sound than an 80s one, but it makes sense when ya realize he's 80 years old! (what???) Not only would I have never guessed that, he sings and plays as good as ever! Smundt consensus: "That was great! I'd forgotten about all those songs."
