For track season this year, Danielle was not interested in trying out for any running events. Instead she opted to focus on field events, well, a single field event, that would get her on the team and the ability to hang with friends at the meets. (Isn't that really what life is all about anyways???)
Enter: Long Jump. And hey, I really like it because the pictures are quite fun (because they are jumping pictures!!)
Turns out Danielle is pretty good at jumping! She has steadily improved her distance over 3 meets. From 11'2" to 13'1" to her most recent first place finish at 13'4"!
There is one final meet before the district tournament (if she qualifies in the top 8 overall, she was 16 after the 2nd meet.) But regardless, it is neat that she can now add "Long Jump" to her middle school athletic accomplishments.
And she's learned to keep her hands in front!
UPDATE: Final meet results are in...Danielle improved another 2 inches, setting a new personal record of 13'6".
Overall for the season, she tied for 14th in the district (15 middle schools)
