I Am Wonder Woman

Soooo, I thought my final race for this year was going to be the 15K back in October. But then my friends (who are training for a full marathon in March) told me about their next run, and invited me insisted I join them at the 10 mile Wonder Woman run! It was just 1 mile further and only a few weeks out. And well, how could I say no to that?! I couldn't!

And I'm so glad I didn't pass it up! These are some fun, energizing, uplifting people to be with!

We lucked out with a really nice December morning for the event. A little chilly, but no rain! The course was a bit different than other runs: it was a 5K+ loop, that we repeated 3 times. And it wasn't prepped very well, because the Mile 1 marker was at .8 miles, and the total distance ended up being10.3! But better a little long, than short - we got our money's worth!

Normally, everyone runs their own pace and spreads out over the course, but this time we only split into 2 groups, so Beth and I hung together the whole time (I was thankful! I needed a buddy to keep me going -- I donated blood 1 week ago, so with reduced red blood cells, it was a struggle to keep my oxygen flowing at usual levels!)

We did it!

Success! Finish. Not last. 😏

NOTE: The pace is off -- my running app said: 10.3 miles, pace 12:45

This event definitely had THE BEST swag! Great medal, nice reusable water bottle, cool metal koozie, nifty headband and a super fabulous Wonder Woman puffer jacket! Plus it was fun to be surrounded by literally 1000+ people (99% women) dressed like Wonder Woman!! (900 in 5k, 250 in 10k, 150 in 10 mile)

What a fantastic day - to spend time with friends and be in good health with the ability to accomplish something like this! Livin' the joy.
