The idea came up a few months ago during one of Danielle's basketball games. One of the moms said, "Hey, Naomi should go to the prom with Ella" (a senior). NOTE: At TCHS, the prom is open to Juniors and Seniors. A few weeks later, Naomi was sitting on the couch and suddenly declared, "I'm doing it...I'm going to the prom!" And thus the stage was set! Dress, jewelry and shoes were acquired. This was really happening!
Naomi scored a favor from our neighbor, who used to work in a salon. Sally did an amazing job on Naomi's hair. It was all about the gold butterflies!
Jeff managed to fit in a quick photo shoot at nearby Grandscape, before Naomi met up with the group of friends.

Naomi picked up her friend, Joylyn, and headed out to McKinney to meet up with Ella and the bigger group of Seniors.

The theme for the prom was Enchanted Garden. They eventually arrived, quite fashionably late! (It started at 8p, they arrived at 9:45p.) Naomi recounted the evening by saying everyone was shocked to see her all dressed up and not in her fav Goosebumps hoodie! She also reported that she used about 5+ water glasses, because she kept getting a new glass out of fear that someone had spiked or drugged her water!
Also reported: the dance floor was super crowded and everyone just kinda jumped up and down with the music! (NOTE #1: This crowded area likely explains the cold/sore throat Naomi had a few days later. NOTE #2: Pockets are not very useful for holding a phone and keys when you're jumping up and down.)
The only picture from prom was of the girls that are in Naomi's PALS class at school!
Naomi's group shut the party down at midnight and then rode in the limo back to McKinney. Naomi dropped one girl at home and then arrived safely home at 1:30a. A late-night record for her!
The event was a smashing success -- one we could have never predicted! But that's pretty much how Naomi rolls -- never ceasing to amaze us!
