Annnndddd, here we go again! Another unexpected house project that we discovered after a quick Saturday afternoon run to Walmart. We had driven Naomi’s car and parked in the front of the house. But then Naomi noticed something out the back window:
Yeah. Something took down 2 large limbs from our Bradford Pear tree. Wind? Tired, old branch? Exasperated by drought? Chunky squirrel?
Not exactly what we wanted to deal with on a lazy Saturday evening...
Jeff salvaged 2 of the 3 cross bars, and together we re-attached those two (three was really overkill 😏). The next solution was to temporarily attach the existing boards that survived -- spaced out just enough to fill the hole.
The next day, Jeff ran to Home Depot to get new 8 foot boards for the final solution. However, the only option for 8 foot boards is 5 inches wide (as opposed to the 3 inch that we had). Since it faces the driveway, we were happy with close enough!
I will stain it as soon as the temperature drops below 100 degrees! Then we'll call this one done.
And about that squirrel...
Bradford pears are famous for becoming weak and brittle- as you probably knew. That's why we removed the two that were in back of our house. 😉
