Wherever you are, there is likely a nifty mural nearby, even in the tiny town of Glen Rose (population under 3000). Travel tip: Always stop and snap a photo!
And while you are in Glen Rose, you gotta do Fossil Rim Wildlife Center drive through safari park! So we did. (Tip: Just be sure to arrive early in the day!) We have experienced various safari drive-thru parks before (2017 and 2015) and they are usually quite entertaining. The animals are not shy about sticking their head in your car window and drooling, or staring you down until you toss food pellets their way!
The emus and ostriches are by far the most intimidating! The various deer species are much friendlier. And yes, you are instructed at the gate not to feed the animals from your hand, but, that is hard to resist for humans. Some animals abide by the rules and stand just out of reach. Other animals totally break the rules.

To help justify the rather high ticket price, the park also includes a small stop midway through the seven-mile drive. There you’ll find a little petting-zoo-style area with goats, an independent parrot, and a very well-exercised porcupine.
Just for fun...
A successful animal encounter: no one harmed, no scratches on the car, and only minor animal drool to make the experience feel authentic.
At this point, we reached the end of Naomi's Spring Break week so she had to head back to A&M. The rest of us carried on for a couple more days. But first, all of us were ready to get cleaned up from two nights of camping and animal drool during the safari. Naomi too, but guess what she found when she returned to her dorm, eager for a shower:
