I'm special.✨
Ok, not just me. But anyone with a birthday around the same time as me.
Why?
Because I feel like my birthday being in October kinda gives me a different take on "the holidays".
For most people, that term refers to Thanksgiving and Christmas, right?
And the season is the roughly 4 weeks between the two. Maybe for some it extends to New Year's Day. So, another week.
But not me.
To me, the holiday season begins with my birthday at the beginning of October! Because, come on, by then football is in full swing, hockey season is starting, and the Texas heat is finally beginning to let up. Then throw my birthday in there, some presents, an arcade party, and it's pretty much another holiday! A personal one maybe, but a holiday nonetheless. And thus, the kickoff of the season.
A stretch, you say? Thanksgiving isn't for another 6 or 7 weeks.
Yeah, but Halloween is right there in the middle holding court. There are events, and photos, and special foods, and decorations, and music, and clothes/costumes. You could prolly even make the case that it's bigger than Thanksgiving! Regardless, it absolutely counts.
And then at the back end, there's New Year's Eve & Day. And if we've learned anything around here the last few years, it's that we do Merry New Yearmas big! So yeah, I'm claiming that extra week too.
So for me, "the holidays" includes...
OCT 6th: My birthdayOCT 31st: HalloweenNOV 2Xth: ThanksgivingDEC 25th: ChristmasDEC 31st: New Year's EveJAN 1st: New Year's Day
That's basically 3 months. My holiday season is 3 months of the year.
Or... 25% of my life!
