Springfield @ The Switchyard

A most unexpected surprise... Rick Springfield is pretty good!
I knew he had more than Jessie's Girl, but I dunno... I guess I just never took him seriously as more than a chick magnet. So expectations were low going into it: FREE 80's night out, good people watching, good enough.

I don't know though. Somehow these older rock stars are still doin it. Even at 76, not only is Rick Springfield still a chick magnet, he sounds great! Even better, he's leans into all of it with an unpretentious sense of humor.
"In 1983 I made a film. Unfortunately, that film was Hard To Hold. Sorry about that."
I don't think I'd need 2 hours of him, but as a 1 hour festival headliner, he's perfect. Especially when Jessie's Girl takes 10 minutes by itself!
BONUS: Opening the show with a blast of 90s, the Spin Doctors! I can't say I was ever a huge fan, but definitely worth getting there early for Little Miss Can't Be Wrong and Two Princes.
And yep, he still does the "heeeeeey ya, ba de ba dip, ba de ba de ba de ba de ba de ba de ba de ba de ba de ba" part of Two Princes.
AND THE CROWD SINGS ALONG! 🤣
