Fasten your seatbelts, there's been a LOT of volleyball in the last 9 days.
3 high school games
2 tournaments: 9 games - over 3 days
3 Ace games
That's 15 games, which came out to well over 35 sets of volleyball for Danielle!
They faced some top-notch teams (Walnut Grove, Lovejoy, Wakeland), some that were a nice challenge but just out of reach (Marcus, Heritage, Princeton) and some more evenly matched teams (RL Turner, Nolan Catholic, Rowlett). It was cool to see the girls working together and persevering during the FISD JV Tournament and the Texas Classic JV Tournament.

The team is now on the other side of the halfway mark in the school volleyball season, and thankfully on the other side of the very busy time! While the numbers in their official record are not newsworthy, they have continued to have shining moments as a team, and in Danielle's words, did play well overall during the recent tournaments.
An area where Danielle has improved...hitting from the back row! Her coach has drilled into them: no free balls!
Another notable accomplishment of her time on the TCHS JV volleyball team is that, so far, Danielle has worn the special libero jersey and typically plays most points in all sets, except for rotating out when the Middle rotates back to serve. Yes, she recognizes and understands it is a privilege, and she continues to work hard physically and mentally in practice and in games, and before and after, to earn that shot.
I continue to enjoy cheering (and filming) from the sideline for all the girls, with all the other parents. The JV Lady Cougars are not going to win them all (nor even half of them! 😉), so might as well enjoy the time regardless of the things we cannot change. Danielle likes being on the team and is building her high school memories, so let's amplify the good moments and make it happy! (Thank you, Jeff)
Let's go Cougars!
