Double Date

Jeff and I along with Danielle and Ari made a day of things at Six Flags, partially sponsored by USAA's Family Fest!

We enjoyed Some of us enjoyed a "magic hour" of special entry before the public opening with shorter lines to knock out 3 big roller coasters: Batman, Joker and Mr. Freeze. After surviving and marking those off the list, we moved on to the more relaxed rides. Ok, so this was a little too tame...but always a classic!

Six Flags seems to be undergoing a phase of rebranding itself. Fading away are the signs of Texas and the old west. Mexico was partially closed with 2 rides completely gone (bobsled and El Diablo) . In its place are other themes and rides-in-the-making. The Antique Cars have transformed under a fresh coat of paint and decals into jeeps for the Dino Adventure. (Jurassic Park?)

The Cave has a new theme: The Pirates of Speelunker Cave. We all agreed it loosely resembled a mix of Pirates of the Caribbean, Little Mermaid and It's a Small World. None of us could figure out the Spee characters though...maybe seahorses that had wished for feet and legs (like Ariel?).

Despite all the many changes, the classic "big chair" is still standing. Well, sitting.

Favorites of the day? The log ride, the cave, Mr. Freeze and Judge Roy Scream.

After a very long day, which actually started with a volleyball game at 8a (ie. up at 6:30a!), we ended the night filling our bellies at Mercado Juarez. Because, ya know,  that is mandatory any time we are within 10 minutes of it!
