Trixie and I headed out for our usual morning excursion today, and I was surprised by a sky full of amazing color. I literally gasped in delight at the amazing sunrise! I also felt pretty lucky, because by the time we got to the end of the street, the sun had continued to rise up as usual and transformed into just an average, every day sunrise. Blink and you might miss something spectacular.
The "rise" theme continued at work through a rather entertaining endeavor...
Today was the day for our building to change from 2 monitors (on adjustable "arms") to a single wide-screen curved monitor (on a fixed base). (Side note: The 2 monitors are being re-purposed elsewhere, so this was a cost-saving move.)
The crew doing the monitor upgrades, started on the first floor and began swapping out all the desks on each floor and then moving up to the next floor up. Well, it soon became evident that there was a slight flaw in the new setup: the fixed base holding the single curved monitor was not quite high enough to sit above our laptops.
A single post on our internal Slack communication channel kicked off a movement: #RiseUp. Everyone started posted what they were using to lift and rise up their monitor.
For the record, the perfect height: an unopened ream of copier paper! The black market for copier paper was established immediately in building A.
I personally opted for the alternative, thrifty solution: old books.
And the trifecta of goodness in my day today -- a new flavor of Coke, rising above the rest: Orange Cream!
