Disappointed

I don't make a lot of extraneous purchases -- usually only immediate consumables. So I was very excited about my latest purchase, something I selected to be my fun item after my recent work bonus. I selected a countertop "Sonic Ice" nugget ice maker! It claimed to make soft, chewable ice like Sonic in 7 minutes, which is exactly what I wanted. Most of the reviews supported the claim, it was a good price for Sonic-like ice, so I clicked Purchase! 

It arrived 3 days early. I carefully followed the instructions to let it sit for 1 hour (to let the refrigerant settle properly after being shipped on it's side) and I completed the cleaning cycle. I was ready, for my long-awaited Sonic ice at home! 

At about 8 minutes, the first 4 tiny nuggets of ice dropped out. And then a few more over the next couple minutes. They looked kinda like Sonic ice, although a little more cube-like than a cylinder pellet. 

The speed was a bit underwhelming, but speed was not my number one concern. It was the texture that I was holding out for! So, I waited a few more minutes for the official chew test.

Yes, it was "chew-able", but only because it was small. It was NOT the chewy, crumbly Sonic-textured ice like I was hoping for.

35 minutes later, I had enough ice to fill my water bottle. And an hour later, the ice-making cycle made it through the .3 gal reservoir to make about a half container of ice. 

I really, really wanted to like this and have it work out. But sadly, I have already processed the Amazon return. I think I might have unrealistic expectations.
