I was recently sick for about 5 hours in the middle of the night with either a stomach bug or food poisoning. Whatever it was, wanted me to be completely devoid of any liquid or nutrition in my body. It was awful. The next day, I was weak, but functioning.
And then...the majesty...the first full day after recovering from being miserable, is the.best.day.ever! You feel SO good after feeling SO lousy.
I can describe a similar experience with the temperature. Normally, I struggle to get out and jog when it's like 30 degrees. But after facing several days of temperatures in the teens with wind-chill even colder, 30 degrees feels fabulous!
It's all relative.
You don't know how great it is to just feel "normal", unless you have a really bad sick day, or deal with a miserably cold exercise day to give you perspective!
You can't have a mountain without a valley. You can't have light without dark. You can't have calm without occasional chaos! Well, at least you don't tend to notice and appreciate the goodness of every day delights until you are without. As the saying goes: you don't know what you've got until it's gone!
So pause and take stock of the goodness and little pleasures all around!
