The Christmas season is here, and it's the most wonderful time of the year! We've been filling our time with a variety of festive events, starting with our annual outing to see Christmas Comes to The Colony hosted by The Colony High School Theatre! This year's production was created by a new director (first change in years), so it was quite a bit different than what we were expecting, but we did get our first dose of holiday cheer.
Another tradition is volunteering at Samaritan's Purse: Operation Christmas Child Shoebox processing! Naomi and Danielle love this, and would opt to go as often as possible. This year, we went with friends and with the Girl Scout troop and processed shoeboxes heading to Mexico, Ukraine and Madagascar!
All the way from the North Pole, Santa made a stop at our neighborhood tree lighting. While we normally take advantage of this evening activity to hang out and visit with friends, this year we only managed to swing by after Naomi's work and Danielle's volleyball outing just in time for a speedy photo op!
There was another Santa siting at PetSmart, this one for Trixie (who was not at all excited to be there...)
The good times continued at my work holiday party, hosted at the Cowboys Star. We enjoyed a tasty meal and various entertainment, including craps and blackjack (for raffle tickets, not cash). Jeff's Atari Christmas sweater was a hit throughout the night!
The best Christmas joy comes from spending time with friends! We enjoyed our night out with the Jayroe's -- games, potato soup, hot chocolate and Christmas light viewing!
For more holiday light viewing, we made our annual pilgrimage through the Deerfield neighborhood. This year we added in a little extra activity -- searching Zillow for a million dollar home -- and we found it! We did enjoy all the many beautiful and amazing yard displays. This was a fav -- not a million dollar home, but definitely an incredible, priceless display!
[Quick interlude] Ever since I started going back into the office and while the kids are at school, Jeff has created Loud Thursday, the one day a week when he plays his music as loud as he wants. He also brings out his guitar and learns a new song each week to play for others so they can "name that tune". For December, Jeff decided to make it Loud Thursday: Holiday Edition!
And he invited guest performers!!
IMPORTANT NOTE: The piano has not been tuned...in ever (well, not since it has been in our house for 23 years...). So, Jeff tuned his guitar to match the out-of-tune piano. Apologies to any pitch-perfect people out there!

FAntastical! Rush, move over! When is Jeff going to get his 1000 watt guitar amp - so it can be REALLY LOUD THURSDAY??
