"My" Thoughts on AI

We've all been "hearing about" artificial intelligence for a long time. But it wasn't until a couple months ago that I witnessed the latest implementation of it myself -- I experimented with OpenAI's free version of ChatGPT-4 (released March 2023), which includes advanced reasoning, complex instructions and more creativity. I started asking it questions and follow-up questions and asking it to re-phrase the answer in various forms (shorter, longer, more advanced, at a 5th grade level, etc). The speed and accuracy of the information was amazing to me. I was pretty much blown away. I also attended an information session about it at work, and well, I'm convinced this advancement in technology is literally the.next.big.thing. I really believe this technology is going to transform the world in the near future (like within 10-15 years). NOTE: I've added a google reminder to check back here and re-read this in 2033.

I don't really know "how" or "what" that will look like, so, ya know, I asked ChatGPT to document it for me. Here is the response to: How is AI going to change the world? At a 5th grade level.

AI is a technology that can make big changes in the world. Here are some ways it can do that:
Making work easier: AI can help with tasks that are boring or repetitive, so people can focus on more interesting and creative work.
Helping doctors: AI can look at lots of medical information and help doctors diagnose diseases and find the best treatments. It can also help with surgeries and take care of patients.
Self-driving cars: AI can make cars drive by themselves, which could make transportation safer and more efficient. It can also help deliver packages and goods faster.
Personalized learning: AI can help students learn in a way that suits them best. It can give them special lessons and help them understand difficult subjects.
Protecting us online: AI can help keep our information safe by finding and stopping hackers and other bad things happening online.
Taking care of the environment: AI can help save energy and reduce waste. It can also help us understand climate change and protect our planet.
Making money matters easier: AI can help with banking and money management, like detecting fraud and giving advice on saving and spending.
Helping everyone: AI can assist people with disabilities, translate languages, and make sure everyone has access to important information.
But we also need to be careful with AI. We have to think about privacy, fairness, and make sure it doesn't replace too many jobs. We want to use AI in a responsible way.

I pretty much agree with all of that, in addition to: it will improve companies profit margin. Things start out with noble, good intentions, but then more humans get involved and it becomes a tool for power and greed. Even though bad often overpowers good, good always outnumbers bad (meaning, there is always more people choosing good over bad). Looking forward to all the positive ways AI is going to transform the world!
