While we'd love to stay even longer in colorful Colorado, we did have to make our way back home down south and east.
A unique aspect of the back half of this trip is that we had to be flexible and make some changes along the way, for various reasons. One such alteration to the itinerary was that we stopped at 5 (yes, FIVE) different used book places, stores and a library sale. Naomi claimed: best day ever. I would concur.
Another unusual aspect was that we ate at one of our our fav spots, Old Spaghetti Factory...twice! Once in Denver to celebrate Naomi's birthday:
And again in Colorado Springs to celebrate Danielle's (very early) birthday!
We had a very unique stay at the ColoRADo Hostel in Colorado Springs.
Naomi called it a hippie place, and Danielle learned what weed smells like. (Note: It is legal in Colorado. No, not us!)
But the big event, that we weren't even sure was going to happen, was dinner at CASA BONITA!! THEN: 2013 and 2016 and 2018
The place has been closed for a few years, but was supposed to open in May. However, that got delayed until they finally opened for weekends only, and by ticket only but we couldn't get tickets. Until...our friend Sabrina (hero!) managed to get 3 tickets (uh, yeah, it wouldn't let her get 4.)
Thankfully, they did let us add a 4th person at the door. Phew.
After eating marginally OK Mexican food, we spent another 4 hours roaming and meandering through the 50,000 square feet of awesomeness. (Jeff would have stayed longer...)
