U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

It's Olympics time again - hooray! Those that have followed this blog for a while prolly know that I'm a big fan of the Olympics. To recap: there's no better excuse to stay on the couch for two weeks. This time though, Jenny and I are getting off the couch. The kids are at grandcamp, our bags are packed and we're headed to Vancouver!

We've often considered going to the Olympics but never followed thru. This time though, sparked by some interest from the Schieggs, we worked thru the long process of making it happen. And when I say long, I mean looooong - Lauren and I initially submitted the first ticket request about a year and a half ago! Since then, lots of ticket, plane/train/automobile and other logistical challenges have been overcome to make it to this day. Oh, and Jenny and I had a baby.

Yeah, that last one was bit tricky. Things were in motion for this trip long before Danielle was considered. And in fact, by the time we were thinking of having another baby, the Olympic trip looked pretty doubtful - our initial ticket request was only partially fulfilled and we were about to bail. Imagine our surprise (and predicament!) then when we found out in April that Smitty was on the way and in May that the remainder of our ticket request was indeed being fulfilled and the trip was ON! Kinda made sharing the baby news with the grandparents a little complicated...

Naomi: There's a heartbeat in Mama's tummy.

Grands: Aaaaaaaaah!

{Grands basking in the glow of the big news}

Jenny & Jeff: Yep, thanks! By the way, can you do us a favor?

Thankfully, they said yes - thanks Grands!

Posting will resume in a week or so...
