We got quite a surprise during this week's Smitty checkup. Smitty has packed his/her bags, loaded up the car and is about to take that long look at the old place before movin out. Or, to put it more medically, according to Dr. T, "There is no way you [Jenny] are going to make it to your due date. In fact, I'd be surprised if you make it past this weekend."

Based on Smitty's position at "zero station" (Jeff loves zero station - sounds very NASA) and Jenny's "progress", that's the doctor's educated guess. And well, she's the doctor so we're kinda taking it seriously. Of course, Smitty ultimately decides when s/he is ready to come out, but all signs point to soon.
However, in the event that Smitty decides s/he just can't bear to say goodbye to the old digs, we've asked the doctor to blast him/her out. So boom goes the dynamite, if it comes to that, next Thursday, November 19th. Alot of things factored into that decision, and we feel it is for the best.
In the meantime, since we're really in the "any day now" stage, we're scrambling to get all the last minute to-do's done ASAP. Mercado Juarez, here we come!

That is such a hilarious description. I never thought I would read NASA, "boom goes the dynamite" (nice Ticket reference), and Mercado Juarez when describing the last few days before Smitty's arrival.

ReplyDeleteI thought it would be cool, too, to share the birthday like Grandpa and Naomi...though we're here now on the day so start jumping up and down!
I put very little credence in arrival predictions, even from OB-GYN's... I visited one of the other doctors in the practice with John, and he told me I "could go anytime" about 2 weeks before the due date, and I went all the way to week 41 before being induced... they don't REALLY know with any more certainty than anyone else does... they just have more data on which to base their guesses...
