There's always time for a birthday celebration

Between all the feedings, diaper changes and baby snuggles, Jeff and Naomi managed to throw me an awesome birthday party! Things were obviously a bit more low-key compared to the usual Smith level of birthday festivities, but my day was still very special.

Of course before anything birthday-y could happen, things kicked off with singing 'Happy Birthday' and blowing out a candle (and it was the best smelling birthday candle I've ever had!)
Next up...presents! All on her own, Naomi selected the perfect gift for me: seeds for her and I to plant together! She didn't quite grasp the concept of when planting season was, but she finally accepted that we would not be able to plant them 'right now'.

Among several other cool gifts, one of the things I received was new door mats to replace our really old, worn out ones. Doesn't sound like the most exciting birthday gift, but I was genuinely thrilled to get them. And they even came with free installation.
Jeff and Naomi saved the best birthday surprise for last. After take-out dinner from Texas Roadhouse (a favorite of mine right now!), they kicked Danielle and I out of the kitchen so that they could prepare a special surprise. Naomi kept running out every so often to tell me that they were baking my favorite cookie (she's not so good with surprises yet!) Fortunately Jeff knows better and didn't give her all the details, so I was truly surprised when they served me a homemade pizookie! A cookie pizza...warm white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookie with vanilla ice cream on top. Another brilliant idea perfect for me. And much tastier than the one from BJ's Brewhouse Restaurant.

What a happy day!

    TEAM SMITH - HOORAH!!

(Apparently 'pizookie' is NOT going into the bad words list...)

  4. The true sign of adulthood: birthday gifts that are as much for the house as for you... Year before last I got a gas log, before that I got screen doors. This year I asked for a doggie gate to separate the back seat from the cargo area in the CRV...
