Trash

I hate hate HATE when I see someone throw trash out their car window, especially if that trash is a cigarette butt. It annoys me to no end. If it happens at a stoplight, it takes every bit of control to keep from getting out of my car, picking up the smoking butt and flinging it back in their window while saying, "Excuse me. You dropped something of yours."

Do they not understand that they are littering? Do they not see that they are trashing up the streets? What makes them think it's ok to do this? I just don't get it.

Did I say how much it irks me? So much that I'm certain my blood pressure increases and my heart rate goes up when I see it happen. (In fact, it is rising right now just thinking about it!)

But alas, there is vindication!! Got bless Texas and the internet:
http://dontmesswithtexas.org/report-a-litterer/

You too can report someone littering -- just make note of their car make/model/license plate/location/date -- and within a few weeks of reporting them online, they will receive a notice in the mail along with a trash bag for their car.

I'm starting to feel better already.

  1. Just a few days ago, Mark and I were driving and the person in the car in front of us threw an empty snack food packet out of their window and I shouted at them and then followed it up with a bit of a rant.

Unfortunately over here they don't have a reporting line, or I definitely would have done it. I hate litterers.

  3. Do cars still come with ash trays?

One of my peeves is work pickups that spill nails and screws on the roadway. I often get off my bike and pick up sharp objects at stop lights... Mutter mutter...

  4. I hope the dontmesswithtexas report is anonymous...

Maybe one of us should report ourself to see if any info is passed along to the perpetrator.

  5. Jessica, over there you are most likely ok... Here, you might be answered with a 9mm slug thru your windshield!

Jenny, resist the temptation!!! The website is a great idea.

  6. Oh they couldn't hear me - our windows were shut. Mark, unfortunately was the only witness/recipient. Poor Mark. Collateral litter damage.

  7. yes, it is anonymous to report someone. they don't ask for your name or anything about you ... i mean i guess the website could track your ip address or something, but and i don't think the state of texas is after the 'reporters'.

i have thought about reporting myself out of curiosity to see if something actually does arrive in the mail!!
