Given that Naomi had never been to the zoo (Danielle neither of course), the bar was pretty low. We weren't expecting much from this little zoo and I can now report that it didn't disappoint. (how's that for a left handed compliment?)
In fact, the only letdown of any kind would prolly be the curious lack of elephants or giraffes in the Africa exhibit. I say curious because the zoo did have plenty of other big animals like lions, tigers and bears. Oh, and plenty of aligators - this is Louisiana afterall.
.
The biggest hits with Naomi were the monkeys (because they look like her) ...
... the peacock (because it was on the loose and she could chase it - poor peacock) ...
... and fish (because she could feed em).
Danielle wasn't totally left out. She had her close encounter too. :)
And she enjoyed our method of keeping cool.
Good times, for about 2 hours until the sun was up high and even the snow cone couldn't save us.
Visit Zoo - check!
yes, that's me again, feeding my 6 month old child sugar-laden snowcone.
ReplyDeletethere i said it. again.
but i would like it add, again, it was like a million and one degrees outside so she needed to cool off too.
and boy does she like sweet stuff! she loudly protested in her unique Danielle-straining-growling way when she wasn't getting a bite!
This little zoo looked like a good place to start for "a first zoo visit"...who needs elephants and giraffes...save something for later. m/g
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see that someone enjoyed the Alexandria zoo! I have very faint memories of the zoo there...odd, since there wasn't a whole lot there to remember. There must be some mental block.
ReplyDeleteSugar is good for anyone under 30. After that, it doesn't burn off any more, just stored...another reason not to get older.
