Back In Bear Country

So, we took a pretty big road trip a week or so ago - all the way out to Florida and back. And as the saying goes, it's not the destination, it's the journey. First up, a visit to Jellystone Park in Robert, Louisiana!
Of course, since we've been to Jellystone before, Naomi was all about it. She & I spent a loooooooong day in the sun, mostly in the pool area re-enacting scenes from The Little Mermaid. When that got old, ya know after 4 hours or so, she finally decided maybe we should take a look around the rest of the park. I have no idea how she knew what a canoe was or how it worked, but she did. In fact, other than explaining the main rule of canoeing (no standing up) 3 or 4 dozen times (sit down, sit down, sit, sit, sit!) and the few loose paddles overboard (though I'm used to this from canoeing with Jenny), Naomi seems to be a natural.
Man, does it get HOT! and muggy in the swamps of Louisiana - whew! Danielle & Jenny seemed to spend most of their time moving between the pool and snack shack. I figured they were in there for the A/C, but later discovered there were ulterior motives.
.
When it comes to camping, I'm a bit of a purist. I'm not sayin I'm so hardcore that I kill my own food or anything, but generally speaking, my definition of camping means sleeping in a tent, cooking over the fire, etc. In this case though, we kinda had to bend the rules because 1) this was one stop in a week long road trip and it didn't make sense to bring all the camping gear, 2) we knew it was gonna be too hot to sleep outside, and 3) look at that groovy A-Frame!

Ok, so yeah, we had A/C (cranked on full blast) and we did sleep on matresses, but there's no way we'd skip the campfire. Or the s'mores!

In the morning, it was goodbye Yogi and back on the road again. Hello beach!
