Training for real

My half marathon training resumed today after being on hiatus for the week. Thankfully, Danielle is returning to her usual cheery self as the med's work their magic.

So, I'm officially into the double-digits now! I completed 11.1 real miles, outside, on the road, making actual progress. I jogged a 3.2 mile loop around our neighborhood 3 times and then ran 1.5 miles over to the car place to pick up Jeff's truck that had been dropped off for inspection and oil change. (I think Jeff might regret having a sweaty, stinky, just-ran-11.1-miles me pick it up for him!)

I feel pretty good now, although a bit tired from head to toe. I ran in the middle of the afternoon and it was definitely warmer than it has been, which used up some extra energy. But overall, I'm still feeling great! Thank the Lord for strong feet and legs, a strong heart, healthy lungs, an agreeable mind and a supportive/motivating husband. Thank God for a beautiful day and a very welcome wind (I lucked out and picked a route that was mostly cross wind).

Just 3 weeks to go!!

  1. Wow - way to go! I'm glad there are two of you in our family who can run! (That would be you and Jessica).

Where does the half-marathon take place?

  2. Las Colinas / Irving area

Course: A couple years ago, the City of Irving asked Heels and Hills to showcase their beautiful Campion Trails, and we're happy to work with them as the city paved trail weaves through woods, along the city canal system, by ponds, and beautiful neighborhoods! The course features these trails and the streets in the Las Colinas Blvd / Williams Square area.

  3. Go, Jenny go!

You're doing a great job and you're going to have such a good feeling after the half-marathon.

Maybe we'll have to reenact it at Hornucopia 2010. Possibly not put you through the full 13.1 miles (unless you're totally addicted to the distance by then)- but long enough that we can all stand by the side of the road and cheer you on as you go past...
